1000 Ways to Cook an Egg

Well there aren’t quite 1000 ways one can cook an egg, but there are quite a few. Today I’m going to share with you a few of my favorite ways to cook an egg and how you can do it too.
Scrambled – Easily my favorite of all time and first choice for a routine egg. Scrambled eggs are one of the easiest eggs to cook. Simply butter the bottom of the pan, crank it up to medium, and crack the eggs. Stir consistently with spatula until eggs are firm.
Over Easy – A classification of a fried egg, over easy just simply means that the egg comes with runny yolk. Start these out like scrambled, with a buttered pan over medium heat. This time when you crack the eggs let them sit stationary. When the bottom of each egg becomes solid, using spatula, flip eggs to cook other side. Shortly, both sides will be done and the yolk will still be runny!
Over Medium – Over medium is exactly the same as over easy, but with a more firm yolk. To do this, simply cook each side a little bit longer.
Sunnyside Up – Simply put, a sunny side up egg is a fried egg that was never flipped. This leaves the top half of the egg runny, including the whites.
Hard Boiled – A classic Easter favorite, hard boiled eggs are easier to cook then they are to find. Frequently, I find that the eggs crack when I put them in boiling water, so to prevent this, put the eggs in the water while it’s cool. When it does boil, then start the timer and cook for 12 minutes.
Soft Boiled – These are the runniest, messiest eggs you can find. Simply bring a pot of water to boil, turn off the heat, and drop the eggs into the water. Let sit for 5 minutes and crack over toast!
Poached – These can be served sunny of with a hard yolk. I prefer a hard yolk. To make poached eggs, simply bring a pan of water to boil and crack eggs into the water. Let cook for about 5 minutes and serve over toast!
There are many other ways to cook a great egg! Feel free to share your favorite way with us!
