The holidays are just around the corner and we all know what that means. Well besides the presents, the wonderful food, and carols, to most that also means one of the most stressful times of the year. The bustle of the mall, the snowy roads, and the endless lines of traffic are just about enough to make a sane person go crazy. That is of course if you aren’t taking the time out of your day for some personal relaxation. Often, we forget the importance of relaxing, but it is one of the best things we can do for our mindset, and ourselves especially this time of the year. Now if you’re a pro relaxer, these tips may be a little old school to you, but since most of us aren’t, I’m going to share with you a few ways that I personally take a load off and ease myself into a deep state of relaxation.
My personal favorite and easiest way to relax is simply to breathe deep. Stopping to take just 10 deep breaths is enough to center my mind and bring me into a positive mentality no matter where I am or what I’m doing. Taking deep breaths oxygenates the body and gets the blood flowing, allowing the machine that is your body to function better and rewarding you with more feeling of glee and relaxation. If you don’t have time to stop and take some deep breaths, even just focusing on your breathing will do wonders!
Not many people would argue about how amazing a massage feels. Don’t hesitate to splurge on yourself and get some bodywork. Massage, whether it be hands on your from a device like the Solajet, can be one of the most relaxing things one can experience. In times of stress, our muscles get stiff and need a little loosening. When they loosen, so does our mentality. We feel better and our body feels lighter. Not only does this relax you tremendously, it also energizes you do to better circulation, better metabolism, and the pleasure chemicals it sends to your brain. My favorite relaxation device because of the portability and ease to you use is the Power Eyes eye massager. Using heat, air, and pressure, you eyes feel more alert and softer focused than ever before! Personally, I wouldn’t say that either hands-on or from a device would be more beneficial as their both extremely rewarding in different ways.
If you haven’t ever experienced a sauna, this would be the time. After just 10 minutes, my tensions seem to ease away and my mind is filled with nothing but positivity. Your muscles will be looser and more flexible than ever before and you’ll feel at your full potential. Not only is it extremely enjoyable to sit in the sauna, but also the effects last over 24 hours! When you use an Infrared Sauna as opposed to the basic ones, your body is heated from the core out, giving you much longer lasting effects. For this reason, I would strongly recommend those over the traditional. The Solo System Far Infrared Dome is by far my favorite. Lying down in a warm dome is quite possibly the most relaxing thing I’ve ever experienced!
For those of you that are short on time, The Chi Machine is an amazing option. Just 5 minutes, and your tensions will literally wiggle away. This device is one of my favorites simply because of how good it feels. Slip your feet into the holds, lie back and let you body loosen itself. When you’re done on the Chi Machine, you’ll feel energized and relaxed at the same time, and the cost is miniscule! All this is done through the loosening of the muscle and the oxygenating of the body.
An extra tool for relaxation and learning to relax yourself can be a tremendous help. The tool that I often recommend would be The LIFE System. Being a biofeedback device, The LIFE System teaches you how to relax you body and handle stresses naturally. When we can deal with stress in a natural way, we can learn to heal ourselves and not have to rely on medications or doctor’s visits. In my opinion, there couldn’t be anything more powerful to us as humans. If just the thought of that doesn’t take some stress off, come try a session and see for yourself.
Along with these tools and tricks, you and I can be stress free over the holiday season and relax into 2012!
