Water

We all drink it, in fact there’s a good chance you’ve had a few glasses today even! Why do we drink water anyways? I hear it’s good for you, but why? As I learn why water is so important to us as humans, I’m going to share the information with you so we can appreciate that next glass just that much more.

Energy – Drinking water helps us to feel energized. When we are fully hydrated, out body is properly lubricated so it requires less effort to move. Just 1 to 2 percent of our body weight lost in water is enough to make us feel sluggish and fatigued. If you’re thirsty, it’s too late, so make sure to stay hydrated.

Cleansing – Toxins, heavy metals, and pollutants are all rinsed out when we drink water.

Reduced Risk of Cancer – Drinking water actually reduces your risk of multiple types of cancer by a significant amount. Ample water supplementing has been proven to decrease colon cancer by 45% and bladder cancer by 50%!

Digestive Issues – A great portion of digestive issues actually stem from lack of hydration. It needs a bit of water to even work properly, so without that, our digestive system can’t digest. Also, water can help with stomach acid problems as well as constipation.

Better Exercise – Since exercise requires additional water, it is important to make sure to stay hydrated while exercising. In fact, without the water, we wouldn’t even be able to exercise.

Headaches – Not only do the majority of headaches come from dehydration of some sort, they are also fixed by rehydrating most of the time. Since headaches are a symptom of dehydration this makes sense. That explains why we get a headache after to much soda, sugar, or salt.

Healthy Skin – Drinking more water has been shown to help with skin problems such as acne. Some people have even reported feeling like they’re glowing after drinking a substantial amount of water. The longer and better you stay hydrated, the more you’ll see these effects.

Heart Health –Hydrating amply greatly reduces your risk for heart attack. In fact, a study showed that people that drank more than 5 glasses of water per day were 41% less likely to die of a heart attack.

Weight Loss – Many times when we think we’re hungry, it turns out that we’re actually just thirsty. This is a great reason why water is such a good tool in loosing weight. Not only does it prevent us from over eating, it makes a great replacement for other beverages like soda, coffee, of milkshakes. Water has 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 sugar, and is hydrates better than anything else!
